3.10 •DNA is a long list of instructions on how to put an organism together and make it work

                  •a gene in a DNA molecule instructs how to make a particular protein

                  •proteins control processes in the body and determine inherited characteristics 

                  •by controlling the production of proteins, genes control our inherited characteristics  

                  •there can be different versions of the same gene, giving different versions of a characteristic - like eye colour (alleles)
