2.27 describe the structure of a villus and explain how this helps absorption of the products of digestion in the small intestine

2.27 •the small intestine is long, maximising the time to break down and absorb all before the end
        
         •millions of villi are in the walls of the small intestine, creating a large surface area
                  •each cell on the surface of a villus also has it’s own microvilli, further increasing the surface area
         
         •thin walls so short distance for diffusion of digested products
         
         •villi have a single permeable layer of surface cells and a very good blood supply to assist quick absorption, maintaining concentration gradient
